Sacraments

Baptism

Baptisms are usually conducted on the last weekend on the month after the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Please note there are no baptisms during the months of March and December. To arrange a baptism for your child, please contact Father Tim Farrell at (505) 325-9743, extension #2, after the first of the month in which you wish to schedule the baptism.

Please note that godparents must be Roman Catholics in good standing with the Church. This means they should be registered and regularly attending Mass at a parish, married in the Catholic Church, and not living in sin. They must also be confirmed.  If the godparents are not registered at Sacred Heart, they will need to provide a letter from their own Church confirming their standing.

Anointing of the Sick

Our parish oversees the spiritual welfare of all the San Juan Regional Medical Center patients and several convalescent homes in town: Lifecare, Cedar Ridge, The Bridge, Wellbrook and Namaste St. Michael. We ensure the residents receive Communion once a week.  All Catholic residents receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick every three months. A public Anointing of the Sick is available every quarter in the Parish.

If you have a relative who is sick or dying, be sure to let us know if they are in one of the Convalescent Homes in town or living at home. If you have someone in need of the Anointing of the Sick at the hospital, please call Chaplain Linda Stetter, hospital chaplain, at (505) 609-2000. If she does not answer, leave a message and provide complete information on the patient needing spiritual attention and she will contact Father Tim Farrell or another priest.

On First Fridays Father Tim Farrell and volunteers bring Communion to the homebound. Our volunteers are an outstanding presence to all our homebound who can no longer attend church in person. Father Tim Farrell anoints those he visits, and then the following month, he anoints the other half of the list.

If you have a homebound loved one, do not hesitate to call (505) 325-9743, extension 2, and leave a message if Father is not in, letting him know the person's name, address, phone number, and present condition. We will gladly ensure that the person is visited regularly.

Marriage

Marriages must be arranged with the priest six months in advance. Please get in touch with Father Tim Farrell at (505) 325-9743, extension #2
